The first joint
EBTA and SFBTA conference in
Malmö, Sweden
Sept 3-5, 2010
For the first time the European Brief Therapy Association and the
Solution Focused Brief Therapy Association are sponsoring and supporting
a joint conference. This conference is also sponsored by Malmö city.
We are aiming for this conference to be a bridge between the past and
present and hopefully also a bridge towards the future. We are inviting
the remaining founders of Solution Focused Brief Therapy - the different
members of the BFTC-team - to join the conference. We want to hear them
talk about what they did with what they were part of creating, how it
has influenced their thinking and working as they went off in different
directions and we want to listen them reflect on the development they
may perhaps notice (or the non-development) as they are cruising the
conference. This far 6 people who were part of the BFTC-group has agreed
to come: Eve Lipchik, Wallace Gingerich, Gale Miller, Scott Miller
and John Walter. The idea at this point is to have the whole Sunday morning
- the last 1/2-day of the conference - consecrated to them and their
thinking. Some of them may also want to present their thinking in
workshops and seminars. Nothing is firmly decided yet and we're open to
suggestions.
Elam Nunnally who was one of the first at BFTC and was coming
to the conference passed away mid-february 2010. He will be missed.
In 1994 a small network meeting with a few
different teams doing solution focused therapy was held in Brugge,
Belgium. Since then the movement
has grown and so has the annual conferences.
We have decided to keep this a relatively small conference - no more
than 350 people in order to try and keep the informality that we are
so fond of. Networking is important and we will try and do our best to
set up possibilities for the people and the teams who come to get to
know each other.
We will do our best to create an interesting scientific program and
we want to encourage contributions that create discussions and
contributions where people show what they do. Bridges are of no use
unless they are used.
Please download the EBTA2010
flyer and distribute it to your email contacts and to anyone you
think might have an interest in presenting and attending the conference
Don't hesitate to write - use the contacts
form page. The "conference package" with program and abstracts and basically all
the information we have and that you will receive when you register is
now being printed. For those of you who wish to take a peak view of that
before you come to Malmö it
can be downloaded from here. This is big file ( 4Megabyte) and it's
62 pages.
